That’s our Dreaming, only Bush Plum. Amern Arnwekety (Bush Plum). Sweet ones. Kwaty (water) coming and they’re growing. They start off green then cooked ones go black. You can fill them up in a billy can and eat them. Those seeds move all around the place. Anywhere in Utopia.

Translated by Dr Jennifer Green

Cindy Mpetyan Dixon was born at Utopia Homestead. Her family were living out bush before coming onto the station. All across cross Anmatyerr country. Cindy’s family’s country is Arlparra. Everyone’s painting canvas in the family. All of the ladies and the men. There’s a big art story for the family.

Cindy lives with a physical disability, painting on the remote Utopia Homelands. She is determined to express herself and, with the support of her family, she tells her story and her family’s story, through painting.

Desert Mob is presented annually in Mparntwe | Alice Springs on Arrernte Country.
