Marcus Camphoo Kemarre, aka, Double O, is an Alyawarr and Kaytetye man who grew up at Murray Downs and now lives in Ali Curung. He started painting as part of the contemporary men’s group Tennant Creek Brio and has since expanded his practice at Arlpwe Art and Culture Centre. Double O has a grace that shies through in his explorations of the grid. Marcus’ large, gestural abstractions have a spiritual resonance. Marcus has been widely exhibited alongside the Tennant Creek Brio including at the 20th Biennale of Sydney: NIRIN, Desert Mob, The Salon De Refuse 2020 and at private galleries. In 2024 he had his debut solo show at 8 Hele Gallery in Alice Springs. Marcus is a finalist in the 2024 National Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Art Awards. Marcus’ work has been collected by the NGV in Melbourne, Opale Foundation in Switzerland and multiple private collectors in Australia and abroad.

Desert Mob is presented annually in Mparntwe | Alice Springs on Arrernte Country.

On behalf of Desart’s staff and art centre members, the Executive Committee humbly and respectfully acknowledge the Arrernte Apmereke Artweye (Traditional Owners) and Kwertengerle (Traditional Managers) of Mparntwe.
