Landscape when we go hunting walkabout swamp. Trees, bush medicine, purple flowers.

Kaye Beasley is an Alyawarr woman from Wutunugurra (Epenarra). She began her artistic career around 2010 when the Wutunugurra community art centre was first established in a silver bullet caravan. Kaye paints the landscapes and bush medicine subject matter typical of the Epenarra artists collective she works among, but has developed her own striking interpretation. Kaye’s ‘bendy flowers’ are a strong modernistic depiction of a common type of bush flower that appears after the rain, while the arcs of the flower stems evoke the hilly country surrounding Wutunugurra. Kaye has at various times assisted Barkly Arts as the arts worker in Wutunugurra, worked as an assistant teacher at the school and assisted literacy programs in the community along with maintaining her painting practice.

Desert Mob is presented annually in Mparntwe | Alice Springs on Arrernte Country.

On behalf of Desart’s staff and art centre members, the Executive Committee humbly and respectfully acknowledge the Arrernte Apmereke Artweye (Traditional Owners) and Kwertengerle (Traditional Managers) of Mparntwe.
