Lance James paints country around Kaltukatjara (Docker River), eight hours south-west of Mparntwe (Alice Springs). Since he was a young boy, Lance has painted the horses, bulls and cowboys that occupied his country and his childhood. His memories are vividly reflected in the purples and reds of the mountains juxtaposed against the warm earth and clear blue sky. Lance’s paintings highlight his deep affinity with the horses and the landscape of his country.
