As a kid growing up in the small town of Woorabinda (my grandmother’s country), I remember sitting around with my uncles watching them do art. At that time, art wasn’t a real big thing for me because as a kid I just loved playing footy and making friends.

As I grew older, I never forgot the memory of sitting around with my uncles and watching and listening. I learnt stories of country and art, so a big thank you to them.

Now I am 35 years old and have been doing art for five years. Art plays a big role in my life today. When doing art, it takes me to what feels like another world.

I do painting, as well as sculpture. Anything to do with art and I’ll push myself to learn and be better at it.

My metal bird sculptures take me back home.
