I went to school and grew up in Indulkana. I also went to boarding school at Woodville in Adelaide. I married in Indulkana, don’t have any children. I look after other people’s tjiitji’s (children). I like laughing and having fun. I like to do painting of my own Jukurrpa (dreaming) designs and bush tucker pictures.

Both Rosalind Tjanyari’s mother and grandmother were famous ngangkari (traditional healers) in the western country of the APY Lands and she has many family members in the Amata community. Rosalind spent a lifetime with her mother and grandmother traveling to visit family and friends in need of healing. Rosalind’s’ paintings allude to a healing energy and strive to encompass the desert landscape. Her artworks speak to a deep history of connection to both country and people. Richly coloured, her paintings reference hidden pathways across the lands and subtly hint at the fluidity of movement and of journeys.

Desert Mob is presented annually in Mparntwe | Alice Springs on Arrernte Country.

On behalf of Desart’s staff and art centre members, the Executive Committee humbly and respectfully acknowledge the Arrernte Apmereke Artweye (Traditional Owners) and Kwertengerle (Traditional Managers) of Mparntwe.
