I was born in Port Augusta outside of the hospital. I grew up in Oodnadatta and went to school there. As a young teenager I went to Indulkana and did more school here. Then I moved to Mt. Ebenezer. I lost my mama (father) there and my mother died while I was there also. Then I moved to Areyonga and had babies there, Julie and Judas. After a while, I moved over to Indulkana. I have lived here for a long time. Done lots of work. I started as a A.W. at the school as a teacher’s aide. Then I worked at the Health Clinic. Now I am at Iwantja. I am a happy grandmother also. I am doing a Certificate of Art and Craft Practice through Batchelor College. It is taking a long time – I will finish one day! I like painting and linocuts. I do my own bush tucker (mai) and jukurrpa (dreaming) designs.

Betty King has lived at Indulkana for most of her life and has worked as the senior art coordinator at Iwantja Arts. Her mother’s country is Areyonga and her father’s country is near Kaltukatjara (Docker River).
