Kwetere (nulla nulla)

Clinton Oliver
desert oak
5 x 86 x 5cm
Ltyentye Apurte Traditional Craft Centre
LTY10-24

$325.00

This kwetere has been hand crafted from desert oak sustainably sourced from around Ltyentye Apurte. It is a lovely large example of this weapon and has been lightly oiled with linseed oil to prevent the wood from cracking. A kwetere is a club used in hand-to-hand combat. It was a dangerous weapon when used in battle and often used by women.

Desert Mob is presented annually in Mparntwe | Alice Springs on Arrernte Country.

On behalf of Desart’s staff and art centre members, the Executive Committee humbly and respectfully acknowledge the Arrernte Apmereke Artweye (Traditional Owners) and Kwertengerle (Traditional Managers) of Mparntwe.

Desart respectfully advises Aboriginal readers that this website may contain names, images and artworks of people who have passed away.
