Mary Fraser began working with puṉu from a very young age, watching and learning under the guidance of her nanna, and her aunties, Lois Fraser, Marianne Fraser and Hazel Fraser. Mary’s family are well known in the Yunyarinyi (Kenmore Park) Community, where she lives, in the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. Yunyarinyi is 460 km south of Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and 36 km east of Pukatja (Ernabella). Her tjamu (grandfather) is Donald Fraser OAM.

Mary carved her kipaṟa (bush turkey) from iṯaṟa (river red gum) wood sourced from a creek at Wamitjara in the Musgrave Ranges, South Australia.

Desert Mob is presented annually in Mparntwe | Alice Springs on Arrernte Country.
