I made this print showing ngintaka (perentie). That story comes from this Country, from my family. We carved the design into the board, then used the troopie to press itrolling the Toyota over it to make the print. Thats how we do it, bush way. Working together with the fellasits strong. Sharing stories, learning from each other, keeping the old stories alive in new ways.

Graham Hampton is a Pitjantjatjara artist working with the Mimili Wati Group. His work draws from Tjukurpa and deep family knowledge, depicting ngintaka (perentie lizard). Developed through bush-based printmaking workshops, Hampton’s practice combines cultural storytelling with experimental techniques. Using the “troopie press”—a vehicle-driven printing method—the Mimili Wati Group carve and impress their designs directly on country, blending ancestral stories with contemporary process. These shared workshops embody ngapartji ngapartji – learning together with respect – strengthening culture, leadership, and wati solidarity.

Desert Mob is presented annually in Mparntwe | Alice Springs on Arrernte Country.
